G-AVOH
Rollason Aircraft and Engines Ltd built serial number RAE.622 D.62B Condor with a 100 hp Rolls-Royce Continental O-200-A in 1967. The aircraft was registered G-AVOH on 6th June 1967 to Rollason Aircraft and Engines Ltd with the Certificate of Airworthiness issued 18th Aug 1967. Flown to second place in the Goodyear Challenge Trophy, Halfpenny Green on Bank Holiday 28th August 1967 by the owner of Rollasons, Norman Jones, wearing Race Serial Number 1. G-AVOH was only just beaten over 5 laps of the 18 mile course by a Bolkow Junior flown by Bill Todd. The trophies were presented by Gp Capt Douglas Bader. Norman Jones was also the founder of the Tiger Club.
Re-registered to Norman Jones on 5th Sep 1967 the aircraft was part of a large fleet leased on very favorable terms to flying clubs. By 1968 G-AVOH was operated by the "Western Section" of the Metropolitan Police Flying Club, White Waltham. The club had 2 Condors and G-AVOH worked alongside G-AVAW.
In 1969 the aircraft was leased to Wycombe Aero Club and by Casavia, Booker until 1973 when she moved again to another club at Fairoaks.
Operated by Fairoaks Aero Club 1973. All of the club's aircraft had flamboyantly coloured tails at the time but remained in the standard Rollason's yellow/blue livery. This allowed easy identification both on the apron but also in the air.
In 1974 G-AVOH operated at Shoreham, 1976 at Rochester and in 1979 at Sturgate until 1982. In Aug 1984 she moved to Sandown, before moving to Old Sarum/ Thruxton in Jul 1990 to work with Western Air. In Aug 1995 she joined the Pilot Flight Training fleet remaining for the longest time with a flying school until her retirement to private ownership in 2009. In 2017 Sqn Ldr Gary Coleman and Sqn Ldr Dave Hall flew G-AVOH to victory in the Royal Institute of Navigation's Top Nav competition winning the Wansborough-White Trophy as the overall winners and the RAF Flying Clubs' Assoc Trophy for highest placed RAF crew.
